Wood fence replacement in San Jose
If your San Jose fence is leaning, missing boards, or no longer giving you privacy, start with the length of the fence line and a few photos. Slate & Span can discuss a full replacement or a limited repair before you commit to the larger job.
Standard wood fence installation, with existing wood fence removal and hauling included.
SAN JOSE · PROJECT PLANNING
A backyard boundary is different from a street-facing fence
San Jose’s fence guidance treats front yards, side and rear yards, and street-facing corner boundaries differently. A standard backyard estimate should not be treated as approval for a taller front fence. Tell us whether the run faces a street or sits beside a driveway, so the location and sightlines can be reviewed before work.
Repair one run, or replace the boundary?
A few loose boards can be a smaller repair. When several posts move, the fence leans along the whole run, or boards have widespread damage, replacement may be more practical. A photo of the full run helps us separate an isolated problem from a failing structure. For repairs, call or email us for an assessment.
Measure each run separately
Measure the length along the fence line, not across the yard. Note each gate opening separately so it is not counted as solid fencing. A corner, retaining wall or change in grade may divide the project into separate runs. Include a photo of both ends and any steps or paving beside the posts.
Removal is part of the fence job
Our standard fence estimate includes removing and hauling away the existing wooden fence, along with the agreed materials and installation. Let us know about concrete walls, unusual foundations or blocked access before work is confirmed. If you share a boundary with a neighbor, agree on the fence line and access arrangements before the visit.
Before you book
Does the estimate include hauling away the old wooden fence?
Yes. Removing and hauling away the existing wooden fence is included in the standard fence estimate. Tell us about other materials or unusual access so the final scope is clear.
Can you replace one section rather than the whole boundary?
Yes. Share the length and photos of the affected run. We can discuss a section replacement or repair and check how it connects to the fence that remains.
What should I photograph before requesting a quote?
Include the whole boundary, the posts at both ends, gate openings and anything that restricts access. A street-facing or driveway-adjacent fence needs a wider view of its position.

Start with your project type, fence length or number of standard gates, and city. The tool collects your contact details so we can email the estimate and follow up to confirm the work.
The free tool is a starting estimate for standard pressure-treated wood and the listed dimensions. We confirm measurements, access and the agreed scope before work. Other woods, styles, heights and nonstandard openings need a separate quote.
